PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To independently observe the fluctuation of a heart rate even in one-handed driving while having an electrode structure for measuring it with highly stable both-handed driving in a measuring art of the heart rate signal for continuously measuring the heart rate by an operator operating the detector.
SOLUTION: A left-hand electrode 101 and a right-hand electrode 102 are provided at respective different electrode areas on a steering wheel section having a high probability of being gripped with the different left/right hands respectively. A sheet electrode 103 is installed on a seat part of a drivers seat. Left-hand and right-hand analog circuits 107 and 108 detect the signals of the left-hand and right-hand electrodes 101 and 102, with the sheet electrode 103 defined as a reference electric potential. A difference/sum arithmetic circuit 109 detects a difference and a sum of the respective output signals of the left-hand and right-hand analog circuits 107 and 108. This detector determines the grip state of the driver at the steering wheel part and a signal to be output as the heart rate signal based on the output signals.
