A water-based virucidal composition suitable for disinfecting a surface contaminated with non-enveloped virus is set forth, wherein the composition comprisesalkylpolyglycoside surfactant in an amount of 0.1-5 wt. %,amineoxide surfactant in an amount of 0.1-5 wt. %, wherein the amineoxide is a compound of the formula R1R2R3N+O−;, wherein R1 contains 8 to 18 carbon atoms and R2 and R3 each contain 1-4 carbon atoms,alkylethercarboxylic acid surfactant in an amount of 0.1-5 wt. % alkylethercarboxylic acid surfactant wherein the alkylethercarboxylic acid surfactant is an alkylethercarboxylic acid of the formula R—;O—;(CH(Y)—;CH2—;O)n—;CH2—;COOH, wherein R is an alkyl or alkylene group containing 6-16 carbon atoms, and each Y is independently selected from H or CH3, n is 3-10, or a salt thereof,hydrogen peroxide in an amount of 0.1-7 wt. %,chelating agent in an amount of 0.01-2.0 wt. %,less than 15 wt. % of C1-C6 alcohol, less than 0.10 wt. % of quaternary ammonium surfactants, and less than 0.1 wt. % amide surfactants, andthe composition having a pH in the range of 1.0-3.0.
