An endoscope apparatus is provided with: one or more power generating sections supplying power to one or more target circuits of an endoscope, respectively； a scope information acquiring section acquiring scope information about the endoscope from the endoscope； one or more protection circuits provided in association with the one or more power generating sections, respectively, and operating in one or more protection modes； and an operation controlling section controlling the one or more power generating sections and selecting one protection mode for each of the protection circuits, based on power supply control information corresponding to the scope information.
