One method includes monitoring the actual state of charge (SOC) of the battery pack during combine operation； calculating a running average of the actual SOC over a selected time interval； and adjusting the combine power when the running average SOC deviates from a target SOC. Another method differs in that actual SOC is compared to a bell curve of time related SOC o measurements having a mean and standard deviations and only adjusts the combine power when an actual SOC measurement is outside the target SOC by an amount greater than the standard deviations. An operator display includes hybrid system power, RPM gauge, a SOC gauge and a battery pack direction flow of power.
