PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily acquire the correspondence relationship between a reference image of another diagnostic apparatus and an ultrasonic diagnostic image displayed on the same screen.SOLUTION: In a reference image display method, a reference image corresponding to the scanning surface of an ultrasonic probe is reconfigured based upon the correspondence relationship between the coordinate system of a volume image data of a previously imaged subject and the coordinate system of an ultrasonic image, and displayed with the ultrasonic image on the same screen. In the method, while the probe is moved, an ultrasonic image is extracted and freezed (S201). Subsequently, the reference image is sequentially read out, freezed and displayed, and the freezed and displayed reference image and the ultrasonic image are compared to extract a reference image, which agrees with the ultrasonic image, and adjusted (S202).
