A process for detecting an analyte in a sample is described, comprising the steps of:S1. providing a sensor, (2) the sensor comprising:a. a conductive material (22)b. a first electrode material (24) superimposing at least a part of the conductive material (22) to form a working electrode (6),wherein the first electrode material (24) is adapted to perform at least one detection reaction when the analyte is present in the sample, wherein the first electrode material comprises Mn2O3 particlesS2. applying a voltage to the working electrode (6)wherein the voltage is selected from the voltage range at which H2O2 in the sample will be reduced at the working electrode (6).Further, a sensor (2) for detecting an analyte in a sample (26) is disclosed. The sensor comprises:i. a substrate (4), wherein the substrate (4) comprises a sensor surface (20),ii. a conductive material (22) superimposing at least a part of the sensor surface (20),iii. a first electrode material (24) superimposing at least a part of the conductive material (22) to form a working electrode (6),wherein the first electrode material (24) is adapted to perform at least one detection reaction when the analyte is present in the sample (26), wherein the first electrode material (24) comprises Mn2O3 particles.Also, a sensor system with a sensor as mentioned before is disclosed together with a detector device.
