Autologous erythrocyte composition in which erythrocytes are obtained from a patient, erythrocytes that contain thymidine phosphorylase and that are free from bovine serum albumin (BSA), where autologous erythrocytes are obtained by loading the erythrocytes with a composition comprising less of 200 EU endotoxin per mg thymidine phosphorylase, for use in the treatment of mitochondrial neurogastrointestinal encephalomyopathy (MNGIE) in the patient.Composición autóloga de eritrocitos en la que se obtienen eritrocitos de un paciente, los eritrocitos que contienen fosforilasa de timidina y que están libres de albúmina de suero bovino (BSA), en donde los eritrocitos autólogos se obtienen cargando los eritrocitos con una composición que comprende menos de 200 EU de endotoxina por mg de fosforilasa de timidina, para uso en el tratamiento de la encefalomiopatía neurogastrointestinal mitocondrial (MNGIE) en el paciente.
