To provide a system and method for filling a syringe for use in, for example, an air retinopexy or other medical procedures.SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the system includes a housing containing a gas canister having an outlet in communication with a fluid pathway, which extends from the outlet to a syringe cavity 14. A syringe 60 includes a barrel that can be received within the syringe cavity, and a port of the barrel is in communication with the fluid pathway.
