Disclosed is a method of using: a) an aromatic alcohol of Formula (I) where R1 is a linear or branced C1-C10 alkylene group , and b) at least one menthyl ester of Formula (II) wherein R2 denotes a C1-C4 alkyl group to improve the odour inhibiting effect of cosmetic agents over a period of about 24 to 48 hours. Also claimed is a composition comprising compounds of Formulas (I) and (II) and at least one deodorant ingredient. Most preferably, (I) is 2-methyl-4-phenyl-2-butanol and (II) is menthyl acetate (i.e. R2 = methyl, CH3). Preferably, the at least one deodorising compound is either triethyl citrate or phenoxyethanol. Also claimed is a cosmetic product comprising (I), (II) and a deodorant ingredient and, further, at least one propellant (e.g. aerosol). A method of using the composition of (I), (II) and a deodorising ingredient for reduction of body odour caused by sweat is also claimed. Worked embodiments of the deodorant are free of aluminium salts.
