- A cremation urn 10 comprises a container 12 that has a lower end and an upper end, and that is sized and configured to receive therein cremation remains of a deceased. An access cover is removably secured on the lower end of the container providing access to an interior of the container. A receptacle 30 is located on the upper end of the container and has a bottom wall 32 and an upstanding side wall 34 extending peripherally around the bottom wall. An appliqué (42, 50, figure 3) is secured in the receptacle. The appliqué may be a medallion or a simulative gem stone made from colored faceted glass. A method of personalizing the urn is also claimed.
