An intraluminal imaging device is provided. In one embodiment, the imaging device includes a flexible elongate member that is inserted into a body cavity within a patient. The flexible elongate member defines a longitudinal axis. The imaging device also has an imaging assembly disposed on the distal portion of the flexible elongate member. The imaging assembly has a plurality of ultrasonic transducer elements arranged about a longitudinal axis. The imaging assembly further includes a first integrated circuit controller in communication with the plurality of ultrasonic transducer elements. The first integrated circuit controller has an annular shape. In some embodiments, the imaging assembly includes an ultrasonic transducer element and a second integrated circuit controller in communication with the first integrated circuit controller.
