PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for the oral cavity, effectively exhibiting antimicrobial activities of lactoferrin, and having excellent effects for preventing and treating periodontal disease.
SOLUTION: The antimicrobial activities of the lactoferrin against the pathogen of the periodontal disease are extremely enhanced by encapsulating the lactoferrin in a liposome. The prevention or treatment of the periodontal disease can be carried out by formulating the lactoferrin-encapsulating liposome with a composition for the oral cavity such as dentifrice, mouthwash, gel for the oral cavity, spray for the oral cavity, troche, tablet, chewable, chewing gum and candy.
