A low molecular weight gadolinium (Gd) based MR contrast agent for PSMA specific Ti-weighted MR imaging is disclosed. (Gd) -based MR contrast agents exhibit high binding affinity for PSMA and specific Ti contrast enhancement in PSMA + cells. PSMA target Gd-based MR contrast agents can be used for PSMA target imaging in vivo. 86Y-labeled PSMA-conjugated urea is also provided, which is also suitable for use in other radiation treatments.
