Provided is a skin contact material formed from a substrate, preferably a hydrocolloid substrate, having a silicone adhesive layer extending over regions of the substrate. The adhesive is formed non-continuously over the substrate to provide areas devoid of adhesive to allow moisture transfer between the skin and substrate which improves the skin friendliness of the material during use, and allows convenient removal of the material with reduced skin irritation. The skin contact material may be utilized in medical dressings, stoma gaskets, medical pads, tape or sheets, stoma skin barrier pads or ostomy bags.
