The present invention provides a compound for use in the treatment and/or prophylactic treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver (NASH) and/or alcoholic steatohepatitis (ASH). The compounds for use according to the invention are unsaturated fatty acids having oxygen bonded to the β-position and further comprising an α-substituent.
