The present invention relates, in general, to topical medicinal formulationsthat provide pain relief and enhancerecovery from injury. In particular, the invention relates to a topicalmedicinal formulation comprising 0.35 to 35% of a soluble saltof a biologically acceptable alkali metal or alkaline earth metal such assodium, potassium, lithium, magnesium and calcium andtheir use in methods of treating pain or enhancing healing.
