The present invention relates to a wearable electronic device which is wearable on a human body and, more particularly, to a wearable electronic device and a control method thereof, capable of preventing a wearer from arbitrarily unlocking by including a security locking function. According to the wearable electronic device and the control method thereof based on the present invention, the security and safety of the wearable electronic device for the elderly and the like with an insufficient cognitive ability as a target can be enhanced by preventing the wearer of the wearable electronic device from arbitrarily unlocking the wearable electronic device and restricting the unlocking if the wearer is out of a safety zone.본 발명은 신체에 착용할 수 있는 웨어러블 전자 장치에 관한 것으로서, 보다 상세하게는 보안 잠금 기능을 구비하여 착용자가 임의로 잠금을 해제할 수 없도록 하는 웨어러블 전자 장치 및 제어 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 웨어러블 전자 장치 및 제어 방법에 따르면, 웨어러블 전자 장치 착용자가 임의로 전자 장치의 잠금을 해제하지 못하도록 하고 안전 영역을 벗어나는 경우에 잠금 해제를 제한함으로써, 인지 능력이 부족한 노약자 등을 대상으로 하는 웨어러블 전자 장치의 보안성과 안전성을 강화할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
