The system is configured for exposing a subject to an atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure which differs from a prevalent oxygen partial pressure by at least 1 k Pa. Further disclosed is an agent that modulates an activity of HIF1α, for use in the treatment of a circadian rhythm disorder, and pharmaceutical compositions and kits comprising such an agent.
