A portable position safety device and method for the monitoring of a patient'sposition ina number of different situations are disclosed. The device comprises agyroscope module,a processing unit and an alarm system. The device and method are designed tomonitorthe patient movement. As such, a movement of the patient's leg beyond acertain presetangle limit will trigger the device alarm system and alert the attendant. Themonitoring ofthe patient's position is achieved using the gyroscope function.
