A device and method for air purification used in cooling, heating and air ventilation systems. The device has at least one UV light source positioned on an inside portion of a movable access panel so that it moves with the access panel from a first position where the UV source directs UV light towards the inside of the system to purify the air stream inside and to remove contaminants from the surfaces inside the system, to a second position where the UV source directs UV light towards the space surrounding the system so that it purifies the air in the room where the system is mounted.Un dispositivo y método para purificación de aire utilizado en sistemas de enfriamiento, calentamiento y ventilación de aire. El dispositivo tiene por lo menos una fuente de luz UV dispuesta sobre una porción interior de un panel de acceso movible de tal manera que se mueve con el panel de acceso desde una primera posición en donde la fuente de UV dirige luz UV hacia el interior del sistema para purificar la corriente de aire en el interior y remover contaminantes de las superficies dentro del sistema, hasta una segunda posición en donde la fuente de UV dirige luz UV hacia el espacio que rodea al sistema de tal manera que purifica el aire en el cuarto en donde está montado el sistema.
