A method of inhibiting an ethylene response in a plant is disclosed herein. The method comprises applying to the plant an effective ethylene response-inhibiting amount of cyclopropene-derivatives thereof. Also disclosed are methods of inhibiting abscission in plants and methods of prolonging the life of cut flowers.
