To provide still further improved telesurgical systems and devices.SOLUTION: A telesurgery system has a surgical assembly 70, provided with a motor and a surgical instrument. The surgical assembly 70 has at least one drive mechanism driven by the motor. A sensor assembly is coupled to non-volatile memory, and records in the non-volatile memory a position of the at least one rotatable mechanism. A controller is communicatively coupled to the sensor assembly. The controller includes a processor for implementing a method. A rotational position of the drive mechanism is recorded in the non-volatile memory during use of the surgical assembly 70. A mid-procedure shut-down of the surgical assembly 70 is then initiated. A request is then received to initiate a mid-procedure restart of the surgical assembly 70.
