The technical solution relates to dentistry and can be used in cleaning teeth and interdental gaps, and also in polishing teeth and massaging gums. The technical result consists in, during the cleaning of teeth, casting plaque and food particles off of a brush and onto a hood and buccal mucosa in order to avoid brushing said plaque and food particles back into the interdental gaps. An electromechanical device for maintaining oral hygiene contains a tooth processing unit (1) which is mechanically connected to an electric drive which is installed in a housing (2) of a device handle. The tooth processing unit (1) is in the form of a shaft (4) having removable heads (5), said shaft being partially installed in the handle housing (2) and having the ability to rotate. The heads (5) are affixed on the external part of the shaft (4), which protrudes out of the housing (2). The end of the portion of the shaft (4) which is positioned in the handle housing (2) comes into contact with a corresponding output of the electric drive, the electric input of which drive is connected to the output of a battery (8) which is also installed within the handle housing (2). A hood (6) is provided on the handle housing (2) above the external portion of the shaft (4) which protrudes out of the handle housing (2), said hood corresponding to the length of the protruding portion of the shaft (4) with a head (5) secured thereon, and made in the form of a profiled plate with an inner longitudinal protrusion (7). The height of the protrusion (7) allows same to come into contact with the operating surface of a removable head (5) installed on the shaft.
