PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition containing SPD(n/CRD) polypeptide for treating inflammation or a method of identifying agonist or antagonist of SPD(n/CRD) polypeptide.SOLUTION: There is provided a pharmaceutical composition for treating inflammation, in which the inflammation relates to microbial infection, and which is a composition containing (a) amino acid 179-355 of specific sequence or (b) SPD(n/CRD) polypeptide being a recombinant fragment of SPD made up of the sequence. Further, there is provided a method of identifying agonist or antagonist of rSPD(n/CRD) polypeptide, which includes (1) a step of preparing a cell or an organism, (2) a step of exposing the cell or the organism to rSPD(n/CRD) polypeptide, nucleic acid, its fragment, homolog, variant, or derivative, (3) a step of exposing the cell to a candidate molecule, and (4) a step of detecting rSPD(n/CRD) mediating effect.【課題】ＳＰＤ（ｎ／ＣＲＤ）ポリペプチドを含む炎症を治療するための医薬組成物またはＳＰＤ（ｎ／ＣＲＤ）ポリペプチドのアゴニスト又はアンタゴニストを同定する方法の提供。【解決手段】炎症を治療するための医薬組成物であって、炎症が微生物感染に関連し、（ａ）特定配列のアミノ酸１７９－３５５、又は（ｂ）前記配列からなるＳＰＤの組換えフラグメントであるＳＰＤ（ｎ／ＣＲＤ）ポリペプチドを含む組成物。また、（１）細胞又は生物を準備するステップと、（２）細胞又は生物をｒＳＰＤ（ｎ／ＣＲＤ）ポリペプチド、核酸、そのフラグメント、ホモログ、変異体、もしくは誘導体に暴露するステップと、（３）細胞を候補分子に暴露するステップと、（４）ｒＳＰＤ（ｎ／ＣＲＤ）媒介効果を検出するステップとを含むｒＳＰＤ（ｎ／ＣＲＤ）ポリペプチドのアゴニスト又はアンタゴニストを同定する方法。【選択図】なし
