There is disclosed a sheath for an electric cable for an electrically-poweredtrimmer and to an electrically-powered trimmer comprising a sheath. Thetrimmerhas a body and first and second cutting blades each having a plurality ofteeth. Thetrimmer also has a sheath disposed about at least a part of the cable. Atleast oneportion of the sheath can be received in the cutting space between teeth andextendsbeyond the cable by a distance that exceeds the depth d of the cutting space.Atleast one portion of the sheath is wider than the opening width w of thecutting space.Thus, the dimensions of the sheath prevent the cable from entering the cuttingspacefor any orientation of the sheath.
