An adapter assembly (500) for a surgical device (100) comprising: a knob assembly (502) configured to connect to a handle housing (102) of the surgical device (100); an elongate body or tube (506) extending distally from a distal portion of the knob assembly (502), wherein a proximal portion (506a) of the elongate body (506) is configured to couple to the knob assembly (502) and a distal portion (506b) is configured to couple to a loading unit (400); and a switch actuation mechanism (510) configured to toggle a switch upon successfully connecting to a loading unit (400), said switch actuation mechanism (510) comprising a switch actuator (540); a distal link (550) operably associated with the switch actuator (540); an actuation bar (584), and a latch (586), wherein said switch actuator (540) is relentlessly biased towards a distal position via a biasing member (548) so that the switch actuator (540) is biased towards engagement with the switch.
