The present invention relates to a new series of chemical compounds with a novel norneolignan skeleton (chemical formula I) possessing a biological activity on the central nervous system (CNS), especially memory-enhancing and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity, individually, or in combination thereof. The novel compounds of a new series have been named as Clitorienolactones.
