PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter which, when the electrode comes into good and sufficient contact with the tissue that is being treated, performs best and do not inadvertently damage the tissue while it is inside the body.SOLUTION: A catheter apparatus includes an elongated body having a distal portion 10 including a distal end 12, a plurality of flexible segments, and at least one intermediate segment 18 that is less flexible than the flexible segments 14, 16. Adjacent flexible segments are spaced from each other longitudinally by the at least one intermediate segment. Each of the flexible segments includes a sidewall 22 having at least one elongated gap extending at least partially therethrough and forming interlocking members.
