PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper where the peripheral edge part of a waist part is hardly turned and slid down.
SOLUTION: The underwear type disposable diaper includes: an absorptive body 3 and an external package material 2 which is composed of outer layer sheets 21, an inner layer sheet 22, and elastic members 23-26. Waistline parts D and the waist part F include waistline gather and waist gather. A highly rigid area with rigidity being higher than that in the width direction outside part of the waist part F is arranged in the width direction center part of the waist part F. The waistline gather is formed of a composite expansible part. The waist gather is formed of the composite expansible part excluding the highly rigid area. The composite expansible part is constituted by mutually joining the sheets 21, 22 in the expansible direction of the composite expansible part and in the orthogonal direction of the expansible direction with the use of intermittent joint parts, arranging the elastic members not to pass the joint parts and not to be fixed to the sheets 21, 22 in a part excluding both the end parts of the elastic members, and forming a plurality of folds, which are continuously extended over the plurality of elastic members, concerning the sheets 21, 22.
