The drive unit has a plunger (10) which is movable from a non-operating to a penetration position. The penetration unit (20) contains the lancet (30) with a needle which is inside the penetration unit in the plungers non-operating position, and which is at least partly extruded from an outlet (41) in the penetration unit by the plunger.
