There is a need for synthetic, restorable bone grafts with improved handling,which are flexible, compression resistant, bioactive or osteoactive,osteostimulative,osteoconductive and osteoinductive, and highly porous and have interconnectedmacro-,meso-, and microporosity for promoting capillary action of fluids, recruitmentof cells forbone formation, and permitting angiogenesis. Further, there is a need for bonegrafts withfluid wicking and retention properties capable of delivering cells andmolecules to the bodyand which are bioactive flowable or moldable, shapeable graft materials thatcan occupy voidsof varying shapes for restoring bone defects. The invention relates tobiocomopatible bonegrafts for repairing bone defects and a kit for the preparation of a bonegraft comprising abone graft material comprising a blend of resorbable collagen and resorbablecalciumphosphate； and a separate container of bioactive glasses.
