The invention relates to a cutting head (1) for an implement for cutting vegetation, such as an edge trimmer or a brush cutter, designed to accept a reel (2) made up of a plurality of temporarily contiguous turns (21) of at least one cutting filament (20) and having a central recess (22), said cutting head comprising: - a body (10) defining an internal housing (11) for the reel (2) and provided with a peripheral orifice (12) to let out a length of cutting filament that is disjointed from the reel, and which can be driven in rotation by a motor, - a central core (13) designed to support said at least one reel, said core comprising at least one arrangement designed to collaborate with the reel (2) to ensure that the core (13) and the reel (2) rotate as one, the core (13) being able to rotate selectively relative to the body (10).
