Summary:The present invention discloses a method of diagnosing glomerular kidney disease or the risk of glomerular kidney disease comprising determining the expression level of miRNA miR-193a,wherein said glomerular kidney disease or risk thereof is detected if miR-193a expression levels are increased as compared to a healthy control, method of prophylactically treating a glomerular kidney disease or of reducing the risk of glomerular kidney disease progression in a patient comprising inhibiting miR-193a in a podocyte cell in said patient and suitable means for said methods.
