There is provided a method for cooking food in a sealed package comprising a one-way valve opening at an overpressure of 20-200 millibar. The method includes heating the seal package at about atmospheric pressure for a first time period in an oven, after the first time period, the seal package undergoes sub-atmospheric pressure and the gas exiting the seal package through the valve.
