COMPOSITION COMPRISING METFORMIN FOR ALLEVIATING NEPHROTOXICITY CAUSED BY IMMUNOSUPPRESSIVE DRUG AND COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING OR TREATING IMMUNE DISEASES COMPRISING SAME
The present invention relates to a composition comprising metformin for alleviating nephrotoxicity caused by an immunosuppressive drug and a composition for preventing or treating immune diseases comprising the same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a composition for reducing nephrotoxicity caused by an immunosuppressive drug, which comprises metformin as an active ingredient, a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating immune diseases, which comprises metformin and a calcineurin inhibitor as active ingredients, and a pharmaceutical complex formulation for preventing or treating immune diseases, which comprises metformin and a calcineurin inhibitor as active ingredients, administered simultaneously, individually or sequentially in a predetermined order. The composition according to the present invention effectively alleviates malfunction of the kidney caused by the side effect of a conventional immunosuppressive drug and is useful for increasing the effect of treating diseases requiring immunosuppression. Further, the present invention suggests various methods including administering a conventional immunosuppressive drug in combination with metformin to reduce the side effect of nephrotoxicity of the conventional immunosuppressive drug and to maximize the effect of immunosuppression or immunoregulation.
