Dermatan sulfate, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate, or clathrate thereof, obtained from sulodexidation through an affinity chromatography procedure with a stationary phase functionalized with AT III, where dermatan sulfate is collected in a flow non-absorbent through and characterized by an average molecular weight of 25KDa, for use in the treatment of a pathology where matrix metalloproteinases 9 (MMP-9) are involved, selected from the group consisting of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), veins varicose veins, myocardial rupture after myocardial infarction, abdominal aortic aneurysm, gastrointestinal ulcers, altered angiogenesis and combinations thereof.Sulfato de dermatán, o una sal, solvato, o clatrato farmacéuticamente aceptable de la misma, obtenida de sulodexida a través de un procedimiento de cromatografía de afinidad con una fase estacionaria funcionalizada con AT III, en donde el sulfato de dermatán se recoge en un flujo no absorbente a través y caracterizado por un peso molecular medio de 25KDa, para uso en el tratamiento de una patología en donde están implicadas metaloproteinasas 9 de matriz (MMP-9), seleccionadas del grupo que consiste en insuficiencia crónica venosa (CVI), venas varicosas, ruptura miocardial después de un infarto de miocardio, aneurisma aórtico abdominal, úlceras gastrointestinales, angiogénesis alterada y combinaciones de las mismas.
