591869 Disclosed is a wound dressing for applying to wound areas that are highly flexible stretchable or mobile such hips and knees. The dressing comprises a nonwoven absorbent layer, the absorbent layer comprising gel-forming fibres, and the absorbent layer being gathered in a longitudinal direction by stitching using one or more elastomeric yarns. An adhesive layer overlies the absorbent layer on a surface furthest from the wound in use and extending beyond the periphery of the absorbent layer so as to secure the dressing to the skin surrounding the wound. The absorbent layer further comprising lines of longitudinal warp stitches formed from an inelastic thread or yarn.
