The invention relates to a battery powered handheld device 1 having a device housing 11, a battery 13 for storing energy for powering the handheld device 1 and a battery chassis 12, the battery chassis 12 having a receiving area for the battery as well as at least one electrical contact 16, 19 for providing an electrical connection from and to the battery chassis, wherein the contact 16, 19 is arranged such on the battery chassis 12 that it is placed inside of the device housing 11.
