At least the first jaw member including a substantially annular electrode (420) mounted to the tissue engaging surface thereof and a corresponding post 1o electrode (430) mounted to the tissue engaging surface thereof. The post electrode being in an inwardly disposed relation to the annular electrode to thereby define a micro-sealing pad (500) whereby, upon energization, electrosurgical energy communicates between the post electrode and the annular electrode of the micro-sealing pad to thermally treat tissue disposed therebetween.
