Compounds, compositions and methods are provided forinhibiting the expression of human STAT3. Thecompositions comprise antisense oligonucleotides targetedto nucleic acids encoding STAT3. Methods of using theseoligonucleotides for inhibition of STAT3 expression andfor promotion of apoptosis are provided. Methods fortreatment of diseases, particularly inflammatory diseasesand cancers, associated with overexpression orconstitutive activation of STAT3 or insufficient apoptosisare also provided.
