An intervertebral implant and associated method. The intervertebral implant can include a first component having a first articulating surface and a first bone engagement surface for engaging a first vertebra, and a second component having a second articulating surface and a second bone engagement surface for engaging a second vertebra adjacent to the first vertebra. The first and second articulating surfaces articulate with each other for substantially replicating a natural spinal movement including torsion, extension/flexion, and lateral bending. The first and second bone engagement surfaces define an outer surface substantially shaped as an envelope of two intersecting cylinders.Linvention concerne un implant intervertébral et un procédé associé. Limplant intervertébral peut comprendre un premier composant présentant une première surface articulaire et une première surface venant en prise avec un os aux fins de prise avec un premier vertèbre et un second composant présentant une seconde surface articulaire et une seconde surface venant en prise avec un os aux fins de prise avec un second vertèbre adjacent au premier vertèbre. Les première et seconde surfaces articulaires sarticulent lune par rapport à lautre aux fins de reproduction sensible dun mouvement rachidien naturel comprenant la torsion, lextension/flexion et le pliage latéral. Les première et seconde surfaces de prise avec des os définissent une surface externe sensiblement façonnée sous la forme dune enveloppe de deux cylindres créant une intersection.
