A cosmetic emulsion having a comparatively high salt-based cosmetic astringent content and being stable can be provided. In one aspect, the emulsion may comprise water and an aqueous phase comprising a rheology modifier comprising microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose gum. The emulsion may also comprise an oil phase comprising an emulsifier selected from the group consisting of stearase-2 and glyceryl stearate and stearase-20, stearase-21 and combinations thereof.
