The catheter is a guiding catheter and has a flexible shaft section (12), a hub (14) disposed at a proximal portion of the shaft section (12), and a strain relief section (18) that surrounds a predetermined proximal-side range of the shaft section (12). A distal end of the strain relief section (18) can be moved along an axial direction of the shaft section (12) at least toward the side where the hub (14) is located.
