A system for disinfecting a fluid, includinga flow cell including one or more inlet and outlet ports,configured to communicate a fluid containing a biologicalcontaminant from the inlet port(s) to the outlet port(s)through an intenor portion thereof, and one or more pointradiation sources disposed about the flow cell, operablefor delivering radiation to the biological contaminant,wherein an interior surface of the flow cell reflects thera-diation delivered to the biological contaminant by thepoint radiation source(s), and wherein the intenor surfaceof the flow cell reflects the radiation delivered to thebio-logical contaminant by the point radiation source(s) suchthat a radiation intensity is uniform throughout the intenorportion of the flow cell In one exemplary embodiment,the flow cell is an integrating sphere Optionally, aphoto--catalyzing material is disposed on at least a portion of theinterior surface of the flow cell.
