PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas filling apparatus in a rice ball packaging machine, which effectively fills a gas into a laver storing part.SOLUTION: A strip film F in which a sheet-like laver is placed between two strip films and the circumference is partially sealed, is formed into an approximately horizontal U shape by a bag manufacturing means 16. On its downstream side, the overlapped end edge of a cylindrical film F obtained by overlapping in a palm-joint form on one side is vertically sealed by a vertical sealing means 18. In addition, front and back positions of each of the rice balls 10 and 10 fed on the film F are horizontally sealed and cut by a horizontal sealing means 20 to obtain a packaging body of the rice ball 10.
