A flexible, kink-resistant medical tube and a method and apparatus for making the same are provided. The tube includes a body having a first end, a second end, an outer surface and an inner surface. The tube includes a lumen defined by the inner surface of the body and extending between the first end and the second end. The tube also includes a helical structure within the body. The helical structure may be formed either during or after an extrusion process or by steps taken both during and after the extrusion process.
