PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe guide wire used for guiding a device such as a balloon or a stent to a lesion as one of medical instruments used in percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.SOLUTION: The guide wire 1 includes a core shaft 10 having a distal end part 11 and a rear end part 12, and a first coil body 20 covering the outer circumference of the distal end part. The distal end part is formed including the most distal end part 13 positioned at the most distal end of the core shaft, a connection part 14 positioned on the rear end part side from the most distal end part and connected to the most distal end part, and a support part 15 positioned on the rear end part side from the connection part and connected to the connection part. When the distal end part is seen through from one plane side to the other plane side, the width of the most distal end part is wider than the width of the support part and the first coil body is in contact with the connection part. When the distal end part is seen through from one side face side orthogonal to the plane to the other side face side, the width of the most distal end part is narrower than the width of the support part, and the first coil body is in contact with the connection part.
