PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and quiet excreta-handling device, regardless of the stool nature of a care-needed person, the device can reliably process the excreta of the care-needed person to eliminate discomfort and reduce the burden of caregivers. SOLUTION: In this excreta-handling device, a suction circulation tube 50 is led from the discharge side of a suction motor (31) to a cooling unit 55 provided on the outside of the apparatus-housing box 12 and the suction circulation tube 50 is cooled inside the cooling unit 55 by heat exchange with external air and then led to a return box unit 27. Also, a stool sensor 13 is constituted by a sensor for sensing the stool hardness, the sensor is used to control in such a way that intake will be set to have a stronger suction force upon sensing a higher signal of the stool hardness, a urine sensor 14 is constituted by a sensor having two contact points, the sensor is used to control the required suction force in response to the signal intensity.
