PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for obtaining the symmetry information of the object are provided to easily check the internal organs of the body with ultrasound images.CONSTITUTION: An apparatus (100) for obtaining the symmetry information of the object comprises a first feature point acquisition unit (110), a second feature point acquisition unit (120), a symmetry axis determining unit (130), and a control unit (140). An ultrasound image is inverted with at least one second feature point matched to at least one first feature point of the object which is extracted from the ultrasound image of the object. A third feature point corresponds to the location of the mirror image of the second feature point in the ultrasound image. The symmetry axis of the object is determined by using the middle point of the first and third feature point.
