An anvil assembly (1 ) including an axis (5) with a proximal and a distal portion, an anvil (2) associated to the distal portion of the axis formed by a central portion and at least a remote rotating portion (31, 32) and a system for reducing the encumbrance (4) of the assembly of the anvil and relative restoring of such encumbrance. This is possible thanks to a half-automatic system specifically activated by the user of the surgical instrument and/or by an automatic system integrated in the system for opening and closing the surgical instrument without the need of activating any specific mechanism. The reduction and the restoring of the anvil size is an advantage during the insertion and the removal of the anvil into and from the organ of the patient.Linvention concerne un ensemble enclume (1) comprenant, dune part un axe (5) définissant une partie proximale et une partie distale, dautre part une enclume (2) associée à la partie distale de laxe constitué dune partie centrale et dau moins une partie rotative éloignée (31, 32), et enfin un système pour réduire lencombrement (4) de lensemble enclume et assurer le rétablissement relatif dun tel encombrement. Cela est possible grâce à un système semi-automatique spécifiquement actionné par lutilisateur de linstrument chirurgical et/ou par un système automatique intégré au système de façon à ouvrir et fermer linstrument chirurgical sans quil soit nécessaire dactionner un quelconque mécanisme spécifique. La réduction et le rétablissement des dimensions de lenclume savèrent utiles lors de linsertion et du retrait de lenclume dans et de lorgane du patient.
